Eman8tions

by John MacEnulty

We are reflections. What is within shimmers in our faces so beautifully. Or shudders and cringes, tries to shimmer, hides behind smiles, laughs from tension instead of joy.

I love the effort of someone who is trying, working to give a good thing to the world. In my younger days I would have called it phony. Now it feels like love trying to get through the pain of the human condition.

We cannot conceal our hope. No matter what, we seem to always want the best. So beautiful we are in this wanting, this love.

I try to remember that at all times, but I forget. Along with most of my fellow human beings I forget, and so we have conflict, forgetfulness, conflict.

Then whoever remembers forgives and we go on, the best emerging, limping or soaring. If you can soar, do it, so others can look up and see you and remember their wings.
