What's New in Business?

by Jan Carolyn Hardy, Ph.D.

Ah, the start of a new year! A blessing for business and a blessing for all of us who anticipate new opportunities within the next twelve months. Since the earth-shattering events of September 11, 2001, we are often reminded that what is nearest and dearest is closest to home. This can be said for our own local Wellness community as well. Please patronize the people who offer our state the wealth of healing arts. We are family. . .

Raven Bear Studio
David and Susan Luce bring you a full spectrum of cozy healing for the mind, body, and spirit at Raven Bear Studio. The name is a blend of their personalities and their life work as a couple: Raven is the creator in Native traditions while Bear is the healer. Susan even has the drum on which their logo magically appeared during one of her many creative journeys. Thus, Raven Bear Studio was founded in Dillingham 10 years ago.

Now in Anchorage, Raven Bear Studio features many wonderful healing modalities. For starters, the studio boasts a luxurious hot tub to soften your achy muscles for their delightful massage. Susan and David use only organic therapeutic grade essential oils. (Psst! Susan sells these exquisite oils either retail or wholesale.) Susan also offers classes in the basics of full body massage to couples, partners, or friends.

Susan and David bring a wealth of knowledge to their work. Both are Reiki Masters, licensed Massage Therapists with expertise in a variety of fields, Aromatologists (students of the use of essential oils), and dedicated teachers of self-help. David, a Registered Yoga Teacher, instructs students in the art of maintaining a supple, pain-free body. David offers both personalized Hatha Yoga instruction as well as Yoga Therapy sessions designed to still the mind. When asking yourself the perennial question, "What shall I get my honey to really show I care?" consider a gift certificate for any one of the fabulous offerings at Raven Bear Studio!

To contact Susan or David, call 561-9609 (outside Anchorage 888-590-9609) or check their web-site at www.ravenbear.net. And for those of you in the bush who wish you could take advantage of some fine healing arts, Susan visits Dillingham regularly to do massage, and David offers Yoga classes in Cooper Landing, Kodiak, and Seward. Talk about coming to your door!

Tarot Card Readings with Pepper Shaykin
If you want to get a head start on the New Year, an appointment for a Year-Card Tarot Reading with Pepper Shaykin is just what the doctor ordered. Some of Pepper's clients span three or more generations of the same family. That is what I call a referral! Pepper has developed a unique body of research, which she brings to all of her Tarot Card readings. She incorporates birth and other significant dates and events to accurately describe the overall theme and flow of each year. What is completely amazing is that Pepper addresses the confluence of elements from past, present, and future and how they impact your reading.

But, the story goes on. . . regardless of the Tarot spread she uses or the questions you present, Pepper gives you advice at the deepest levels of spiritual and personal growth, outlines actions you may take, and focuses on what will enrich your life. She also offers information concerning choices you may have regarding the unfolding of events -- in other words, how to best deal with healing your karma. Now, that is news you can use! Pepper is now in the process of accepting apprentices and formulating new Tarot classes based on her most recent research. Look in the Wellness Calendar Section for class dates. Do not pass up this opportunity to study with one of the most unique innovators in the field of psychic and Tarot research! For more details, check out Pepper's advertisement or call 272-7044. You will be eternally grateful!
