Balancing by Touch: A Technique Derived from the Readings of Edgar Cayce by Connie Thompson
It was sixteen years ago when a restless soul was first drawn to Alaska from Tennessee. Bill Thompson arrived in Anchorage in an old van. He was so determined to get to Alaska that the lack of a working clutch was merely an irritation. Being financially challenged couldn't stop what was meant to occur in Bill's lifetime. It was in a local bookstore where perhaps the greatest adventure of Bill's life began when he picked up a biography of the life of Edgar Cayce. Cayce was a humble man from Kentucky who discovered almost by accident that he could diagnose virtually any illness and give remedies while resting in a trance-like state. When his advice was followed, many people found that their health problems greatly improved. Cayce's work is considered by many to be the most comprehensive work on holistic healing in the 20th century. As Bill began to study Cayce's work, he marveled at this man's understanding of healing. Little did Bill know that the truths he found in these readings would lead him to his life's passion. He became a devoted student of Cayce. This eventually took him to Virginia Beach, VA, and the school of massage at the Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.), where all the readings of Edgar Cayce are kept. Interestingly, the very technique that Cayce mentioned so often in his health readings was not taught at the A.R.E. In fact, no one even seemed to know much about it. Bill soon realized that his mission in life was to uncover a hidden truth, one that surely had been in existence for centuries but somehow was lost. For Cayce to recommend this particular healing method in so many readings for various ailments meant that it must be rediscovered. It was during Bill's second trip to Anchorage when he made the connection with Cayce's powerful yet subtle healing technique. He researched the readings where Cayce referred to this method and diligently sought to apply what he had read. It was not until he focused on the exact nerve centers as described by Cayce that he first felt the reaction that leads to balance in the nerve energies. "Balancing by Touch" is done on the nerve centers along the spine in such a way to bring balance and thus aid in healing any condition that may exist in the body. The nerve centers are located on either side along the spine in between the transverse processes. These centers control the impulse to every organ in the body. If the centers are not balanced, the correlating organs suffer due to inadequate nerve circulation. This can lead to a multitude of problems. Virtually any problem will find its representation along the spine as an imbalance that can be felt even by the beginner when the right area is touched in the right way. When a balance is restored to the nerve center by either relaxing or stimulating the center, circulation will be returned to the problem area whether it is a muscle spasm or a deep organ. This can often be felt immediately in problems such as carpal tunnel syndrome, TMJ and sciatica. The failure of proper circulation is the basis of most ailments in the human body. Restoring circulation to normal is thus the foundation for healing in most cases. Only when experienced, can one comprehend the power of a balancing touch done on the nerve centers along the spine. This touch can bring one to a wholeness and balance, while allowing the body to heal itself. It is Bill's desire to share this art of healing as described in the Cayce readings with those who feel led in this direction by their Higher Source. Bill works with Dr. Brinn Bentley at the Heartway Center for Wellness, 5520 Lake Otis Parkway, Suite 101. He will be offering workshops during the summer. Call 562-9242 for more information. |
