All About Children

by Dawn Brunke

Every summer we focus our July/August issue on children. This is one of my favorite issues to work on because so many people – from health professionals and wellness advocates to ordinary moms, dads, and even kids – are excited about sharing their ideas, insights and words of wisdom to help others.

This issue is no different. Within these pages, you will find a wide variety of topics presented – from acupuncture, chiropractic and bodywork focused just for children to how flower essences and essential oils can be incorporated into your family healing program; from nurturing your child’s self-esteem and talking about spirit in our everyday lives to recognizing the power of every child’s “invisible friend.”

We at Alaska Wellness hope you enjoy reading this issue and wish you a wonderful, healthy, laughter-filled summer. And if you have children, remember to listen carefully. As famed author of The Little Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupery wrote over 50 years ago, “Grown-ups never understand anything for themselves, and it is tiresome for children to be always and forever explaining things to them.”

Dawn Brunke is the editor of Alaska Wellness and author of the upcoming Awakening to Animal Voices: A Guide for Teens to be published in Spring 2004.
