The Master Numbers of 9/11:
Moving Ahead Spiritually

Astrology began when a man first gazed upon the heavens, noting the movements of the celestial bodies, and asked the question, Why? Numerology, based on the sacred science of numbers, is an advanced offshoot of the melodious rhythm that controls all creation. Astrology and Numerology give a person, at the time of birth, advance notice of the vibrations that control his or her life. The study of either of these sciences is a voyage into the meaning of life and answers the questions why, where, from where, and to where. Humanity’s mission on earth is spiritual comprehension, an awareness of self and purpose on this earth.

The uncanny predominance of Master Numbers surrounding the events of September 11 warrants attention and offers credence for moving forward spiritually. Master Numbers are double digit numbers 11, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77, 88, 99. They should not be reduced to single digits by adding the two digits together. Master Numbers indicate higher enlightenment.

I frequently receive inquiries from people around the country who wake up in the night and notice the clock at 11:11, or drive down a street and realize all the numbers they see are master numbers, or have dreams in which master numbers appear prominently. My response to these happenings is that a “higher God self” is attempting to convey a message to become open to greater revelations that are undoubtedly waiting to come.

A friend reported his discovery of over 200 Master Number synchronicities in the 12-month period of 2001, including:

There were 22 million AIDS deaths worldwide.
11 European countries converted to the Euro.
The Queen Mother of England died at age 101.
The Federal Reserve cut interest rates 11 times.
The Mir space station, 99 feet long, fell back to earth on March 22.
During the filming of the movie, Oceans 11, the secret service confiscated 22 million fake prop dollars which were too real to be used in making the movie.
The Arizona Diamondbacks beat the New York Yankees in the World Series by scoring a record 11 hits.

It is not uncommon for people to experience heightened awareness of Master Numbers during times of stress. This was especially true after September 11, 2001, when many email boxes were flooded with posts describing the uncanny phenomenon of numbers. The actual date (9-11-2001) adds up to a number 5, which is not a Master Number, but often means unexpected happenings. The month and day, however (9 + 1 + 1) equals 11.

911 is the emergency number to call.
Sept. 11 is the 254th day of the year, also an 11 (2+5+4 =11).
After Sept. 11, there are 111 days left to the end of year.
119 is the international dialing code to Iraq and Iran (1+1+9=11).
Flight # 11 had 92 on board (9+2=11) plus 11 crew members.
Flight # 11 was the first plane to hit the towers.
The plane that crashed in Pennsylvania had 44 on board.
The Twin Towers, standing side by side, look like the number 11.
The state of New York was the 11th state added to the Union.

Names and phrases with 11 letters include: New York City, Afghanistan, The Pentagon, George W. Bush, Colin Powell, Ramzi Yousef (convicted in the 1993 attack), and World War III.

The letter value of Osama bin Laden’s name adds up to 47, making it an 11 as well. If you use a U (3), Usama, instead of an O (6), Osama, as some people spell his name, it adds to 44, indicating a great leader or a great destroyer. Bin Laden was 22 when he first entered Afghanistan and was 44 at the time of 9/11.

The tower Tarot card of the 22 Major Arcana often shows a burning building with people jumping from windows. This card usually symbolizes rapid change, the breaking down of ideas, and cosmic direction.

The global outpouring of sympathy toward America had a huge effect of uniting people around the world. Life as we knew it had changed. All airports were shut down, the U.S. financial markets closed, the White House was evacuated, the U.S. capital closed, the U.S.-Mexican border closed, New York City elections were postponed, and all baseball games were canceled. We prayed and meditated. Where were we headed?

September 11 is a real example of the number synchronicity phenomenon. It was a real wake up call! It is still referred to daily by the media and in conversations in everyday life. It has heightened our awareness as people everywhere are searching for answers, for meaning and purpose and some connection to the divine.

So, what was the message of all these numbers? I believe the number 11 has become like a worldwide mantra to harmonize humanity. Master Numbers can provide incredible uplift for humanity or can vibrate to the negative to manifest destruction and religious fanaticism.

Perhaps you feel as one radio talk show host put it: These numbers are just weird; let’s move on and not make a big deal out of them. Yes, we can do that. However, an awareness of Master numbers can – especially during tragic events such as 9/11 -- remind us that we all have a choice. We can choose a life filled with fear, despair, violence, suffering, loss and hatred, or we can choose a life filled with love, joy, fulfillment, compassion, peace and abundance.

President Bush said that we must imagine the worst and plan for it. As a metaphysician, teacher and counselor, I feel it is my job to imagine the best and plan for it. We can all do this in our everyday lives by practicing several things, such as:

Telepathically sending peace, love and forgiveness to those we think of as our enemies, as well as to anyone who seems unlovable.
Consciously thinking positive thoughts at all times, even when everything around us seems so negative and hopeless.
Never repeating negatives, which just magnifies the negativity.
Praying for and sending our country’s and the world’s leadership positive thoughts of love, protection, spiritual insight and wisdom that all their decisions will be made for the highest good of all involved.
Asking your Higher Self what you can do to spread peace from your heart around the world.

The greatest gift a person can receive is the gift of truth.
