Going within; taking time to heal; taking
time to listen to the stillness within and without time. There is a
symphony among us and within us. When we truly listen within the
silence, there is music. A music so sweet and harmonious, it is
regenerative to the body, offering serenity for the mind and an
elixir for the soul.
Several years ago, I was diagnosed with cervical cancer and was told
that surgery was my only option. With my doctor’s permission, I
pushed the surgery date as far as I could and proceeded to organize
my life to focus on my own healing. Being a single mother of four
children, this was no easy task. Though I had lived simply on a
small island and observed healthy eating habits, my days roared to
the current hum that is customary in the present times we live in. I
decided to fine-tune my lifestyle and begin weekly treatments with
our local acupuncturist.
Beginning with my first session, my acupuncturist used sound therapy
in conjunction with needles on acupuncture points and meridian
pathways. With each successive session, she used fewer needles and
more sound by applying tuning forks on specific points, along with
Tibetan bowls and bells positioned around me. As these frequencies
were placed on certain points, I experienced musical sound waves
traveling through the energetic pathways of my body. Every session
was like entering a temple filled with streaming harmonies, in a
place where I was neither awake nor asleep.
Sound has been used cross-culturally throughout the ages for
healing. It is a universal language, a carrier wave between Heaven
and Earth, the seen and the unseen. Currently, contemporary cell
biology and quantum physics provides increasing evidence that the
vibratory motion of energy is found throughout nature and contained
within our cells. We know that everything around us is in a constant
state of vibratory motion. Every object, internal organ, and cell
resonates at a certain frequency—which leads me to believe that all
matter is frozen music.
The music of atoms spinning in orbit is octaves higher than we can
hear; the constant trembling of the earth is many octaves lower.
Just as a whirling rope makes sound and changes pitch depending on
how fast you spin it in the air, our planets orbiting the sun
vibrate at specific frequencies. Yes, we live in a musical universe
and we are a reflection of such right down to the molecular
structure of the cells in our bodies, including our DNA. As above,
so below.
The ancient Chinese texts state that the rivers and waterways on the
Earth are patterned after the star streams in the heavens, as are
the meridian pathways within us patterned after the waterways that
lay on the Earth. When there is an obstruction along any of these
pathways, a block to the natural flow develops and disease follows.
This shows up as disharmonic patterning, just as a block or dam in a
free-flowing stream creates an eddy and collects debris. Since our
physical beings are made up of 70% water, and our bones and bone
marrow 25% water, and the fact that sound travels four times faster
in water, our bodies are perfect resonators for sound.
As I lay on my practitioner’s table and entered the place of being
neither awake nor asleep, I noticed at a particular point during
each session I would hear amazing harmonies surround the table. I
literally felt as if I were in an ancient temple, with monks
chanting all around me. I finally described to my practitioner what
I was experiencing and requested the name of the music CD she used
during the session. I learned that she only played this music at the
beginning and end of the treatment. We figured out that during the
time I spoke of, she always used a particular frequency on the same
set of points. This was a key into my healing.
Twelve weeks passed and I scheduled a pre-op test for surgery. I was
hoping for some sign of positive change, to see if I could convince
my doctors to push the surgery date back once more. The results came
back revealing that my cells were 100% normal. At the same time, I
also learned that my practitioner was relocating out of the country.
I was now on a new journey, no longer scheduled for surgery, but
inspired by the healing work that I had received. I began to learn
as much as I could about the powerful experience I had with harmonic
medicine and to incorporate it into my self-care program. It was not
long before I purchased my own set of tuning forks.
During my healing time, I got in touch with the disharmonic
patterning within myself that set the stage for chaos to reign. I
came to understand that cancerous cells are cells that divide
randomly in no organized fashion. Each session I received would set
a new tone for the week, taking me on a journey of unraveling and
unwinding old energetic patterns and restructuring new harmonic
ones. Linking with sound links us to the source of Life, which in
turn links us to our soul’s destiny encoded in our DNA.
Everything I learned about this new modality resonated deeply within
my being, so I began sharing the work I did on myself with others in
my life. My quest led me to becoming a Certified Practitioner of the
Acutonics Healing System, which inspired me to further my studies
with Asian Healing Arts, Oriental Bodywork and Nutrition.
I feel the most profound part of my healing that has become a
lasting ingredient to my life’s plan is taking time to go within, to
listen to the music within silence.
As we leave behind the busyness of the long summer days and begin
our descent into the season that rests, may we remember to take time
to journey into the temple within and listen the celestial music
that resides there.
