| Dear Business and Health Professionals, Alaska Wellness Magazine is looking for articles, short stories, cartoons and art work by lay people as well as experts. We want your help to educate the public in the ways of health and wellness. The audience you will be appealing to are wide variety of lay people, new age people, those involved in therapy processes, grass root types, parents, intellectuals and the uneducated. People who read Wellness are looking for that universal spiritual connection. Our readers are interested in self-improvement, psychology, physical fitness, health and improving the quality of their lives. There are many who are afraid of the increasing disease rate on the planet and have come to the conclusion they need other options in health care, and self care. Wellness wants to give them those alternatives and teach self-responsibility in health care and the management of our lives. Alaska Wellness does not pay for articles. Our goal is to have the bulk of our articles and information come from Alaskan professionals or those who come to Alaska to work. This helps build business for the professional and gets the public familiar with what alternative health and self-improvement we have to offer. You don't have to be a professional writer to have something valuable to say and we have editorial services available to help. We welcome articles on a wide variety of subjects: healing styles and modalities, health, physical fitness, exercise, nutrition, politics, tools to improve work and home environments, psychology, spiritual ideas and principles, natural childbirth and birth stories, people stories and experiences, interviews etc. We are very interested in healing testimonials of physical or emotional healing, miracles and spiritual experiences. Department pieces or columns should be about 750 words and feature articles up to 1200 words. All pieces are kept short because of the amount of written material the public is bombarded with. People simply don't have time to read and either skim or read only the first paragraphs. It is the policy of Alaska Wellness Magazine that first preference for article space shall go to advertisers, unless it is a public service article (topics in the past have included the dangers of MSG, aspartame and vaccinations) or personal healing stories that may help others. New advertisers have preference over previously published advertisers. Much of the time we do not have free space to publish nonadvertisers because so many advertisers submit articles. Copy can be e-mailed to Alaska Wellness at jackie@alaskawellness.com or directly to the editor at wellnesseditor@alaska.com. Copy can also be faxed or sent regular mail. We need articles on file and will hold your work until it fits into an issue if we don't use it right away. We ask writers to gear their work toward empowering the reader and giving information readers can use. Thank you for adding your voice to the Voice of Alaska Wellness. Jackie Kosednar, Publisher |
